Castor oil is a vegetable oil extracted from castor seeds. At room temperature, it is an almost colorless or slightly yellowish clear viscous liquid with a slight odor and a mild and then slightly pungent taste. Flammable but not flammable, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, benzene and carbon disulfide, can be freely mixed with absolute ethanol, ether, chloroform or glacial acetic acid, but insoluble in mineral oil.
